Families can try tennis free of charge at Longford Park’s refurbished courts
A programme of free and inclusive tennis taster sessions and paid-for courses during April and beyond has been launched at revamped tennis courts in Longford Park, Stretford.
Hour-long taster coaching slots from Monday 13 April are open for booking at the facility, which was refurbished by Trafford Council in partnership with the Lawn Tennis Association last year.
Sessions are people of all ages and abilities, whether they are picking up a racquet for the first time or looking to sharpen their skills.
A Trafford Council spokesperson said: “The coaching programme aims to offer something for everyone - children and adults alike. With sessions designed to boost confidence, improve fitness, and build friendships, expert coaches will deliver a complete coaching experience through a full weekly schedule of after-school, weekend, and adult sessions.”
A free Adult Leader Course for over 16s who would like to take up tennis coaching starts on Sunday 10 May. It is open to anyone – and can even lead to a new career.
The Trafford Council spokesperson continued: “It doesn’t matter if you already play tennis or not - the programme is completely free and will help you improve your coaching ability as well as building key skills across many different areas in the game.
“LTA Adult Tennis Leaders is the first step on a leadership programme in tennis, sport and beyond. If you're wanting to take your first steps into supporting the sport, either as a career or a hobby, sign up now!"
All of Longford Park’s tennis courts are available to book via the LTA website.
