Who we are

Established in February 2020, Post Community Newspapers are free, not-for-profit publications available in print and online.

Post Community Newspapers were developed in response to the need of small community organisations, service provides and businesses to have an effective means of communication with local residents. And so the idea for a single printed platform where local, relevant, positive news and information could be shared in an engaging way was formed.

Based in Greater Manchester, our vision is to deliver a Post Community Newspaper for every one of its ten Metropolitan Boroughs. In addition, with a need for a community-led, positive news platform across all communities, boroughs across Cheshire, Merseyside and Lancashire areas for development.

Post Community Newspapers operate on a not-for-profit basis through the registered Community Interest Company, Drawing Board Productions CIC.

Our Purpose & Impact

Post Community newspapers enable communities to access trusted, positive, and relevant local news and information.

Being free and in print, The Post allows access to local news and information without the barriers of cost or online access. This in turn helps to tackle issues such as social isolation, loneliness, and digital exclusion.

Post Community Newspapers have proved to have a significant impact on engagement within communities, helping raise the visibility of local organisations and supporting communities to thrive.

And we’re a little bit different - all of our content is incoming from the community. members of community organisations and representatives of local services, business, sports clubs and schools submit content to be published. Even our feature content is written by residents wanting to share their passion for books, food, poetry and more. This makes The Post a true Community Newspaper.

Amanda Fourie

Amanda has had a varied career - from managing a Backpackers Hostel in Dublin, to setting up a local market in the Heatons, to being one of the
co-founders of Post Community Newspapers.
Amanda attributes this variety to a liking for new challenges - the main motivation behind her return to The University of Manchester as a ‘mature’ student to complete a Masters Degree in History. Amanda’s main passion is travel. Having backpacked and lived across the globe following her undergraduate degree, she now enjoys adventuring and exploring new places with her daughter - and being Editor of The Post of course!

Mel Page

Mel has been project managing international events since 2011, and life before that involved crewing on super yachts and managing ski chalets after graduating with a Spanish and Linguistics degree. Now settled in Stockport with her family, she launched a local arts, music and culture festival (Heart Of The Heatons) in 2018 and a local film awards for amateur film-makers (SK Film Awards) in 2019 before embarking on the Post adventure. She’s ‘officially’ an expert project manager but we’d call her a brilliant doer, the one who makes stuff happen with infectious enthusiasm.
