Battle Of The Bands
Music Evermore and the We Will Rock You Project are delighted to announce that Manchester music legend Rowetta will be joining us as a guest judge at our upcoming Battle of the Bands, alongside Rachel Waters (Brighter Sound) and James Ryan (Manchester City Council).
Taking place 6:30pm – 8:30pm on Friday 20 March at the Wythenshawe Forum Library Creative Space, the event will see eight young bands from across Manchester take to the stage to perform one song each, before the judges select the overall winner.
The evening will showcase the incredible talent and dedication of a growing community of young musicians aged 7–16, all of whom take part in regular band sessions delivered by the We Will Rock You Project across evening and weekend band sessions in various Manchester locations.
Tickets are £5, with all proceeds going directly towards supporting the work of Music Evermore CIC, helping to ensure that music education remains accessible and affordable for as many young people across Manchester as possible.

Men of Manchester Urged to Get Life-Saving AAA Screening at Manchester City FC
Men across Manchester aged 64 to 66 are being urged to take advantage of a free, potentially life-saving health check at a special Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm (AAA) screening event hosted at Manchester City FC’s Etihad Campus.
The event will take place on Thursday 26 February 2026, from 9:30am to 5pm, and is open to men aged 64–66 who have not previously been screened.
AAA is a serious condition that occurs when the main blood vessel in the abdomen becomes weakened. It often develops without any symptoms, meaning many men are unaware they have the condition until it becomes dangerous. A simple, painless screening can detect AAA early and significantly reduce the risk of life-threatening complications.
Incentives and additional support
To make the day even more appealing, men who attend the screening will be entered into a free prize draw, with the chance to win:
• A signed Manchester City FC shirt
• A stadium tour voucher
• Match tickets to the final game of the season
Alongside AAA screening, attendees will also be able to access:
• Free blood pressure checks
• A range of health services and community groups
• Support and advice from vascular specialists, who will be available throughout the day to answer questions
Complimentary tea and coffee will be available, helping to create a relaxed and welcoming environment.
For security reasons at the venue, attendees may bring one family member only if required on the day.
Booking information
Booking is essential, and places are limited. Men are strongly encouraged to secure their appointment as soon as possible by contacting the AAA Screening Team:
